Posh bag duo

Peterborough have signed George Boyd and Gavin Strachan.

Peterborough have bolstered their squad with the signings of George Boyd and Gavin Strachan.

Highly-rated winger Boyd arrives from Stevenage Borough for a Conference transfer record £260,000.

The 21-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at London Road.

Posh's director of football Barry Fry was delighted to have beaten a host of clubs to Boyd's signature.

"George is extremely highly-rated and has been extremely sought after," said Fry.

"We are delighted to secure his services and have beaten many clubs from higher divisions. He is an exciting prospect."

Strachan has inked a one-month loan deal from League Two rivals Hartlepool and it is the Scot's second spell at the club after a loan spell in 2003.

The 28-year-old is set to go straight into the squad for the New Year's Day clash with Walsall.
