FA Cup round-up

Weymouth and Bury will need a replay after a 2-2 draw at The Wessex Stadium.

Weymouth and Bury will need a replay after a 2-2 draw in their FA Cup first round tie at The Wessex Stadium.

The Nationwide Conference club were looking to take the scalp of a League Two side in Sunday's game in Dorset, but it was The Shakers the broke the deadlock on 26 minutes.

From a Bury corner on the right, The Terras failed to deal with a loose ball in front of their own goal.

The ball came out to Shakers youngster Marc Pugh, who slammed his shot through a crowd of players to make it 1-0 at the break.

Weymouth turned the tie around five minutes after break, as Simon Weatherstone struck a fine equaliser with a low right-foot strike past Shakers goalkeeper Aaron Grundy.

Richard Logan then gave The Terras the lead five minutes later, as Grundy failed to keep out Richard Logan's far-post header after he connected with Lee Elam's cross from the left.

However, Chris Casper's side earned a replay at Gigg Lane when Andy Bishop beat Weymouth goalkeeper Aaron Lee-Barrett to a cross before heading into an empty net for a 2-2 final score.

The prize for one of the clubs will be a home draw with League Two side Chester City in the second round.

In Sunday's other first round tie, Conference North club Farsley Celtic played a competitive goalless draw with League Two's Milton Keynes Dons at Throstle Nest.

Both sides created chances to break the deadlock, but a replay at The National Hockey Stadium will be needed to decide who gets to host League One club Blackpool in the second round.
