Stockport County boss Jim Gannon will release defender David Beharall and midfielder Ross Greenwood this summer, after not renewing their contracts at Edgeley Park.Twenty-seven-year-old Beharall made six league starts this season since moving from Carlisle United on a short-term deal, at the turn of the year.
Meanwhile Greenwood, 20, began his career as a Manchester United trainee before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in August 2004 and then to County the season after.
Negotiations are ongoing with goalkeeper James Spencer, defenders Ashley Williams, Mark Robinson and Keith Briggs and striker Adam Le Fondre, as Gannon looks to build on this season's survival in League Two.
"I've had several meetings with players, but a lot of them are wanted by other clubs as well as us, so it is proving quite difficult," the manager told Manchester Evening News.
"I certainly don't want to rush out and sign the first player who becomes available. We want to make sure we get a good deal, but it is proving to be a slow process."
Chief executive at the club Kevan Taylor is also expected to move on after being put on gardening leave.
