Pugh rejects Bury offer

Bury midfielder Marc Pugh has rejected the offer of a new contract with the club.

Bury midfielder Marc Pugh has rejected the offer of a new contract with the League Two club.

The 19-year-old's current deal expires in the summer, having joined The Shakers from Lancashire rivals Burnley nearly a year ago.

Despite making a positive impact at Gigg Lane this season, Pugh's agent has told the club that they want to keep the midfielder's options open in the summer.

Shakers boss Chris Casper is disappointed with the youngster's decision, but remains hopeful they can keep the player.

"It's very frustrating because we've done a lot of work with Marc," Casper said.

"It's very difficult because we made Marc a very good offer and he turned it down.

"Hopefully, that's not the end of it and I'm disappointed that he hasn't signed the contract.

"I know Marc wants to play for us, but he's been given some poor advice by his agent.

"At the end of the day, he's got to decide where his priority lies here with Bury or elsewhere with more money, where he might not get the same development as he gets here."
