Skipper blow for Stanley

Accrington Stanley could be without captain Peter Cavanagh for the next three months.

Accrington Stanley could be without captain Peter Cavanagh for the next three months.

The defender suffered a knee injury towards the end of the first half in Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Hartlepool United.

Cavanagh is now expected to be sidelined until into the New Year, with Stanley boss John Coleman lamenting the setback to his skipper.

"It's always a big blow to lose your captain and Peter's a very good defender as well," said Coleman.

Stanley will also be without Jay Harris for the next three games after the club opted against appealing his red card for spitting against Hartlepool.

Meanwhile, Coleman has allowed striker David Brown to join Burton Albion on a one-month loan deal.

Brown featured in Burton's Conference game against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, having started just once for Accrington this season.
