Silkmen held by U's

Macclesfield missed the chance to move into the automatic promotion places.

Macclesfield Town missed the chance to move into the automatic promotion places in League Two after drawing 1-1 at Oxford United.

The Silkmen could have moved above Swansea and Scunthorpe into third and even level with Yeovil in second.

However, thoughts of winning were soon dispelled for Brian Horton's side when Oxford's Paul Wanless (pictured) fired his side ahead just three minutes in.

Town looked destined for defeat until three minutes from time when John Miles stroked the ball home from 20 yards to seal a share of the spoils for the visitors.
