Pinilla out for eight weeks

Mauricio Pinilla faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines with a wrist injury.

Hearts striker Mauricio Pinilla is facing up to eight weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a wrist injury.

The 23-year-old picked up the injury while he was back in his native Chile following a loan spell away from Tynecastle.

Pinilla was assessed on his return to Hearts' first pre-season tour in Austria and it has been decided he requires an operation and will be out of action for a possible two-month period.

The forward is the latest to join an ever-growing Hearts injury list ahead of Friday's friendly with BV Cloppenburg.

Bruno Aguiar, Mirsad Beslija and Roman Bednar have all remained in Scotland as they recover from injuries, while Ibrahim Tall, Christos Karpidis and Michael Stewart have travelled to Germany for the game but they are suffering with knocks.

Hearts assistant manager Stephen Frail says the increasing injury problems may see a number of youngsters get a run-out in the match.

"There may be more of an emphasis on a younger side and the older ones might play on Saturday against Rot-Weiss Essen," Frail told the Hearts official website.
