Daly could be back in six weeks

Dundee United striker Jon Daly could be back in action within the next six weeks. Daly has been sidelined with a knee injury picked up against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the end of April. He was expected to be missing for six months, but United boss Craig Levein has confirmed the Irishman is ahead of schedule. Though Levein is wary about rushing Daly back into the team, he is hopeful the former Hartlepool forward is close to a comeback.

No timescale

"I'm hoping we will have Jon back within four to six weeks and that is good news," said Levein in the Daily Record. "I'm putting no exact timescale on the player because that just leads to setting targets and being disappointed if it doesn't happen. "But it is fair to say he is a little bit ahead of his schedule in terms of recovery. "He's not had a lot of time on the pitch for us and both Jon and ourselves are looking forward to him making a return."
