Celtic look all set to complete the signing of Inverness goalkeeper Mark Brown, with the player having undergone a medical with the Scottish champions.The former Rangers man had been linked with a move to Falkirk but in a surprise swoop Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has engineered a deal for the 25-year-old.
While loath to lose his accomplished shot-stopper, Inverness boss Charlie Christie accepts that the lure of Celtic is almost always too tempting to resist.
"We can compete with clubs such as Falkirk but it's impossible when the big two make an approach," he told the Daily Record.
"The move to Celtic came out of the blue but Mark leaves the club with our best wishes.
"He has done a great job in the past four years and we hope we have been good in helping him resurrect his career after a difficult time at Motherwell."
Meanwhile, Celtic striker Craig Beattie is to disappoint a clutch of clubs that are hankering to secure his services on a loan basis.
The promising young hit-man has found opportunities scarce this season but having overcome a series of niggling injuries, he is now confident of convincing Strachan of his capabilities.
"I want to play my football here," he reiterated.
"I am not interested in going on loan. I just want to catch the manager's eye and make him think he has to use me."
