Tommo wants new deal

Steven Thompson has set his sights on earnnig a new deal at Rangers.

Steven Thompson has set his sights on proving to Rangers boss Alex McLeish that he is worthy of a new deal.

Former Dundee United marksman Thompson is ready to fire after a spell on the sidelines and claims he wants to make it impossible for McLeish not to offer him a fresh contract.

"I've got a year and a half to go on my deal - a year from the summer," he said.

"I have to try my best to impress everybody here because I would love to stay at the club longer.

"But you don't just get a contract given to you here - you have to earn it and that is one of my main aims.

"I have just loved every single second I have been here. It's an amazing club and the two years have been a whirlwind."

An ankle injury has robbed Thompson of almost two months of his season, but he is determined to hit the ground running and fire The Gers to glory.

"The first six months were just unbelievable with winning the Treble. It's something I want to do again.

"I think we will win trophies and it is the best-ever feeling."
