The former Bolton man has inked a deal which will keep him at Hearts until the summer of 2008.
Banks, who kept a clean sheet in Saturday's win over Inverness, was delighted to sign a new deal.
"It rounds off a great weekend for me," Banks told the club's official website.
"I'm delighted to stay for another year."
