Falkirk have signed Dutch goalkeeper Jeroen Lambers after he impressed on trial with the club.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper joined up with the Scottish Premier League club at their pre-season training camp in Holland after being recommended by FC Groningen officials.

Boss John Hughes saw enough in four days training to play him against Rizespor and Norwich City.

Lambers had already agreed to sign for Dutch outfit VB Veendam, but they allowed him to leave to play top flight football in another country instead.

"I am delighted to get the big man. This will give us competition for places," Hughes enthused.

"My backroom team will now work very hard to get him up to match fitness."

He has signed a one-year deal at the club and could now feature in the first game of the new season against Dundee United on Saturday.
