Foxes hit by Rogers blow

LEICESTER CITY'S slim hopes of survival have suffered a blow with the news that Alan Rogers will miss the rest of the season through injury.

The former Nottingham Forest ace has chipped a bone in his knee and Foxes boss Dave Bassett has ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

It is the sixth long-term injury to hit the club with Gary Rowett, Gerry Taggart, Dennis Wise, Jordan Stewart and Matthew Jones all spending time on the sidelines.

"Unfortunately it has turned out much worse than anticipated," said Bassett of Rogers's injury.

"He's had exactly the same operation as Gary Rowett and Gerry Taggart, which doesn't augur well for Alan. You have to write him off for the season.

"Jordan Stewart will have an operation next week and he won't play any further part this season either."

Meanwhile, Leicester could sign Ivory Coast striker Eli Kroupi on loan for the rest of the season.

The Lorient ace spent a three-day trial at Filbert Street and Bassett may offer him a loan deal as he cannot afford to buy him, despite receiving £2.4 million from the sale of Ade Akinbiyi to Crystal Palace last month.
