Raymond Domenech has moved to defuse the row with Lyon after the injury to Eric Abidal.France coach Raymond Domenech has moved to defuse the row with Lyon following the injury to Eric Abidal.
The Lyon defender broke a metatarsal bone in his foot during France's controversial friendly against Costa Rica in Martinique on Wednesday.
Lyon were bitterly opposed to the friendly taking place and their ire was worsened after the injury to Abidal, which will keep him out for several months.
The Ligue 1 champions are considering taking legal action against the French Football Federation (FFF) after confirming the injury is unrelated to the foot problem Abidal suffered in pre-season.
"Olympique Lyonnais will be led into taking appropriate dispositions towards a situation that is penalising for the club, as one of its best players will be unavailable for several months," read a Lyon statement.
"L'OL has warned the Federation and the international bodies of the risk of that impromptu, and inopportune, friendly.
"Lyon's medical staff has diagnosed a foot bone fracture that is not directly linked with the fractured suffered by the player in July."
But Les Bleus boss Domenech has tried to cool the dispute after revealing he has discussed the issue with Lyon counterpart Gerard Houllier.
"I do not have anything to answer the Lyon leaders with, whether they are dissatisfied or not, because I have already called Gerard Houllier," said Domenech.
"I explained it to him and Lyon knew the situation.
"I do not have to answer through the press. They know what happened. The debate is closed for us."
