It has emerged that Spanish outfit Celta Vigo failed with a deadline day bid for Lens striker Dagui Bakari.A whole host of teams had been linked with the Ivory Coast forward during the summer, with Tottenham failing with a bid and Everton also being interested.
As well as Tottenham, the 30-year-old also resisted overtures from Strasbourg, Genk and a couple of Turkish sides.
Bakari had made it clear that he wanted to spend the season with Lens, but Celta Vigo were undeterred and came in with a late offer.
However, the relegated Spanish side were met with a firm rebuttal and will have to negotiate their way through the Segunda season without Bakari.
