Monaco lost to Sochaux as St Etienne moved up to fourth with a win over Marseille.

St Etienne moved into fourth position as they earned a 2-1 win over Marseille in Ligue 1.

The victory was their third in four games and Pascal Feindouno sent them on their way with a goal after 22 minutes.

L'OM replied 13 minutes later through gifted youngster Franck Ribery, although the home side stole all three points with a late strike from David Hellebuyck.

Monaco dropped to eighth to continue their poor start to the season, as they lost 2-1 to Sochaux.

The home side, who moved out of the relegation zone with the win, took the lead after just nine minutes through Brazilian hit-man Ilan.

Sochaux doubled their lead just before the break thanks to Beli-Moumouni Dagano, and Francesco Guidolin's men only earned their consolation goal in injury time as defender Maicon (pictured) pounced.

Troyes missed the chance to escape the bottom three as they drew 1-1 at home to mid-table Lens, who finished the game with ten men.

Daniel Cousin opened the scoring for the visitors on 21 minutes before being dismissed for two bookable offences, and in between the two incidents, Frederic Adam netted for Troyes.

Rennes pushed up to tenth, as prolific Swiss striker Alexander Frei gifted them a 1-0 win against Ajaccio.

Le Mans ensured they kept pace with the high flyers in Ligue 1 thanks to a 2-0 win over Strasbourg.

The Leon-Bolle support were sent into raptures after just two minutes, as Yohann Hautcouer edged their side in front, and Daisuke Matsui made sure of the result just before the break.
