L'OM win Batlles race

By Patrick Haond
Marseille have agreed a fee with Bastia to sign their gifted playmaker Laurent Batlles.

The Stade Velodrome outfit have been seeking midfield reinforcements and had set their sights on Batlles.

Nice were also keen on the 28-year-old but l'OM have stumped up the cash to persuade Bastia to do business.

L'OM initially wanted to take Batlles to the mainland on loan but have now settled on a ‚é¼1.5 million fee with Bastia.

Batlles will now discuss personal terms with l'OM before clinching his move from the Corsican side.

With Batlles due to depart, Bastia have turned their attentions to a replacement with Rennes' attacking midfielder Philippe Delaye on their wanted list.

Delaye has also caught the eye of struggling Le Mans and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Rennes have not confirmed if Bastia have submitted a bid but the 28-year-old is tempted by the switch and the prospect of first-team football.

"Bastia is very interesting," said Delaye. "I want to play more often.

"A loan is being studied. After that, I will be free. So, if everything goes smoothly why not continue the adventure?

"But I haven't signed anything yet."
