Ligue 1 round-up

Strasbourg boosted their survival hopes with a win at St Etienne as PSG thrashed Auxerre.

Strasbourg boosted their survival hopes with a win at St Etienne, while Lille were held at home by Marseille.

After a 2-0 success at St Etienne, Strasbourg are now just three points from safety after climbing a place in the table.

The breakthrough for the visitors arrived on 61 minutes when Amara Diane put Strasbourg ahead.

With St Etienne pressing for an equaliser, substitute Pontus Farnerud sealed the points by scoring on 76 minutes.

Paris Saint Germain revived their bid for European qualification after thrashing Auxerre 4-1 at Parc des Princes.

Former Auxerre ace Bonaventure Kalou did much of the damage as he scored in each half, starting with the opener on 27 minutes.

Rene Bolf's own goal had PSG 2-0 ahead by half time and goals from Pauleta and Kalou in the space of two second half minutes put the hosts further in control.

Lionel Mathis pulled one back for Auxerre before the hour mark, but there was no further reply from the out-of-sorts visitors.

Neither Lille nor Marseille seriously enhanced their prospects of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League after playing out a 0-0 draw.
