Schalke linked with Luyindula

Schalke look ready to end Peguy Luyindula's nightmare spell with Levante.

Schalke look ready to end Peguy Luyindula's nightmare spell in Spain with Levante.

The striker has struggled in the Primera Liga since joining on loan from Marseille in the summer, and still does not have a goal to his name after making 11 appearances.

Nantes had been strongly linked with the former Lyon striker but now reports in France suggest that Schalke have emerged as strong suitors for his signature.

The Bundesliga title hopefuls are casting their eye over potential targets as they look to reinforce their squad and Luyindula has seemingly caught the eye of coach Mirko Slomka.

If Levante lose the Frenchman then they could turn their attentions towards Anderlecht's Argentinian striker Nicolas Frutos.

However Anderlecht may be reluctant to lose the player who recently came third in the Belgian Player of the Year poll despite suffering from a number of injuries.

Levante are currently just one point above the relegation zone in La Liga, and new coach Abel Resino's hopes have been further hindered by an injury to star man Alvaro.

The defender suffered a fracture of the collarbone in the 3-0 defeat to Valencia on 13th January and the club have confirmed that Alvaro is likely to be sidelined for a further four weeks.
