The hit-man received an injury during the InterToto Cup tie with Fulham, but returned for the Rennes clash.
After scoring a goal, he sustained an ankle injury during a tackle, and faces an operation next month which will sideline him for around three months.
Team-mate Daf has sprained an ankle and will be missing for at least three weeks.
Sochaux are unhappy with Rennes and may take action.
"It is frightening," stated Bernard Genghini.
"I hope the disciplinary committee will study the pictures.
"Of course, the encounter had a great importance for our adversaries.
"However, there is a great difference between aggression and attack."
