Isabey latched onto a fine ball from Ilan to fire into the top corner on 86 minutes, as the Stade Bonal crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Sochaux dominated possession and defeat would have been harsh on the Ligue 1 side, but on reflection, a draw may have been a better result for them.
In finishing second in Group D, Sochaux are set to face one of the eliminated teams from the UEFA Champions League.
