Dominique Bijotat has been linked with the manager's job at Sochaux.
Despite Sochaux's insistence that Guy Lacombe will stay on as manager next season, reports in the French press suggest that Clermont coach Dominique Bijotat will take the reins at Stade Bonal next season.Lacombe has endured a frosty relationship with Lionceaux supremo Jean-Claude Plessis, although the pair had been understood to have put their differences behind them with Plessis recently declaring that Lacombe would be staying on.
However these latest developments would appear to contradict Plessis's previous statements, as it is being reported that the two parties have come to an agreement to end Lacombe's contract at the Ligue 1 side.
Bijotat has been strongly touted as the man to step into Lacombe's shadow with Sochaux, and is currently at the helm of Ligue 2 side Clermont-Ferrand after a previous spell with Ajaccio.
Despite admitting that he had previously held talks regarding the post at Sochaux, Bijotat denied having concurred on any imminent move to Stade Bonal.
"I am under contract with Clermont," Bijotat told L'Equipe. "On Monday I will resume my job with Clermont.
"It is true I had contact with Sochaux, but it was three weeks ago."
Meanwhile Sochaux officials are determined to continue their recruitment drive for a striker despite the renewed uncertainty regarding the managerial situation at the club.
Guingamp ace Moumouni Dagano still remains a top priority despite his preference for Championnat rivals Strasbourg - as Racing can offer the draw of Uefa Cup football next season.
Strasbourg, keen to replace Marseille new-boy Mamadou Niang, will meet their Guingamp counterparts on Monday but Plessis is believed to be preparing the first offer for the Burkina Faso hit-man.
Sochaux are also keeping tabs on CS Sfaxien striker Haykel Guemamdia, although the Tunisian international has also drawn interest from Nantes.
