MONACO MAKE JARDEL BID

MONACO coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that he wants to sign Galatasaray`s wantaway striking ace Mario Jardel.

The Principality side have offered 50 million francs (£5 million) plus forwards Wagneau Eloi and Nicolas Bonnal in exchange which has been accepted.

"I lack someone who can score goals," said Deschamps, who is yet to see his Monaco side score this season after three Le Championnat games.

"How can you win without a decent striker? Jardel is a proven scorer."

Galatasaray vice-president Fatih Altayli fuelled the reports by revealing: "The deal to take Jardel to Monaco is 90 per cent concluded."

However, the deal seems to be dependent on whether both Eloi and Bonnal agreed to move to Istanbul, which is far from certain.

Jardel is unlikely to get his hopes up about a move to Monaco, after similar moves to Marseille and former club Porto have already fallen through this summer.

24-year-old Bonnal, who has attracted interest from Sunderland, Lyon, Liverpool and Tottenham, is unlikely to be attracted by the prospect of moving to Galatasaray, as he seems to have quite a few options available to him.

Eloi, meanwhile, is also wanted by a number of other club`s and despite turning down a move to Portsmouth has other offers from England.

"We have been contacted by Galatasaray, but two English clubs and one Spanish are also interested," said his brother and agent Murphy Eloi.

So it would seem that unless Monaco make a straight cash bid, then Jardel's future is unlikely to be resolved anytime soon.
