Bracigliano has broken foot

Nancy goalkeeper Gennaro Bracigliano is unlikely to play again this season.

Nancy goalkeeper Gennaro Bracigliano is unlikely to play again this season because of a foot injury.

The 27-year-old has been suffering from pain in his right foot for the last year which has forced him to miss a number of games.

Bracigliano had to sit out two months late last year before returning, however, he then had to be replaced at half-time in the League Cup game against Auxerre.

New medical examinations have revealed a broken bone in the foot which will take at least two months to heal.

"Gennaro's problem is that he's had a damaged foot for the last four years," club doctor Jean-Pierre Vaglio said.

"It got a blow when he was at Angers and that injury lasted for six months.

"Sometimes he had bad pain, but with treatment it was better.

"I believe in kicking the ball he started the new injury about a fortnight ago."

Bracigliano is relieved to have finally discovered the nature of the pain he has had to bear for some time.

He also took a swipe at the doubters who claimed he was faking the problem.

Bracigliano added: "I am relieved because I will be able to be treated in the right way.

"But I am also disgusted because when I complained people talked about a psychological injury.

"I am upset towards the people who didn't trust me when I said I had pain. Some said I had created that injury."
