Middle East move for Moldovan

ROMANIAN striker Viorel Moldovan has signed for United Arab Emirates side Al-Wehda after leaving Nantes.

Moldovan was not offered a contract extension by Nantes and quit Les Canaris on a sour note after a bitter blast at ex-coach Angel Marcos.

The 30-year-old had several clubs chasing his services, with Strasbourg, Ajaccio and Le Mans all keen to keep the forward in France.

Partizan Belgrade were also monitoring his situation but Moldovan has plumped for a lucrative 12-month deal with Al-Wehda.

In moving to the Middle East, Moldovan links up with former Ajaccio coach Rolland Courbis, who has just taken over the reins at Al-Wehda.
