SPANISH GIANTS EYE BRAZILIAN LUCIO

BAYER LEVERKUSEN defender Lucio, 23, is a £22 million target for Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Leverkusen General manager Reiner Calmund confirmed that the club had received a "£20 to 23 million offer from a South European Club," but added "offers do not concern us."

Barcelona and Real Madrid are both keen to shore up their back-line and possess the financial clout to test Leverkusen's resolve to hold on to the player.

Lucio joined Leverkusen in the winter break for a fee of £6 million from Porto Alegre and has proved a huge favorite at the BayArena scoring five goals in 13 games.

Berti Vogts will be reluctant to sell one of his key players as he looks to build a side capable of competing with leaders Bayern Munich and Schalke.
