Motta blow for Barca

Barcelona have been rocked by news that Thiago Motta will be out for six months.

Barcelona have been rocked by the news that Thiago Motta will be out for six months after picking up a serious knee injury.

The Brazilian midfielder lasted just three minutes of Barca's 2-0 win over Sevilla before he had to be stretchered off.

Motta twisted his knee on the soaked Camp Nou pitch and later tests confirmed that he had ruptured his ligaments.

Barca officials say that he has ruptured both lateral and cruciate ligaments in his knee and will be out for at least six months, as an operation will be required.

The news is a big blow for Frank Rijkaard ahead of the start of their UEFA Champions League campaign which begins with a trip to Celtic.
