Barca answer back

Barcelona restored their advantage with a Ronaldinho-inspired 2-0 win over Getafe.

Barcelona held their nerve to produce a classy display in a 2-0 win over Getafe to maintain their advantage at the top of La Liga.

Ronaldinho was the inspiration for the victory, with his free kick opening the scoring, before setting up Ludovic Giuly's neat finish to see Barca regain their six-point advantage at the Primera summit.

Real Madrid's early victory in Levante reduced Barca's lead at the top of the table to just three points, piling the pressure on their arch rivals.

However, Frank Rijkaard's men never looked like a side packed with nerves, with a flowing display against Getafe.

The visitors worked hard and closed down Barca's superstars at every opportunity, but the gulf in class was apparent as both Deco and Giuly went close early on.

Ronaldinho is the man Barca turn to so often and he again did the trick when he put the hosts ahead just before the half hour.

A free kick just outside the box is always the Brazilian's territory, and he sent Getafe keeper Sanchez Broto the wrong way by curling a low shot into the far post.

Standing in as skipper in Carles Puyol's absence, Ronaldinho was the architect behind all of Barca's great moves, and he duly set up the second goal.

Ronaldinho slipped a perfectly weighted ball through to Giuly, and the Frenchman lifted the ball over Broto to seal the points.

The win was the perfect response to Real's win, and keeps the title firmly in Barca's grasp.
