Rustu plans Barca return

Rustu Recber wants to return to Barcelona and establish himself as number one.

Turkish goalkeeper Rustu Recber insists he still hopes to establish himself as number one at Barcelona.

The 32-year-old endured a miserable spell at Camp Nou after arriving in the summer of 2003 and was overlooked in favour of Victor Valdes.

He opted to return to former club Fenerbahce on a season-long loan last term and was expected to leave Barca on a permanent basis.

However, he has just secured EU citizenship meaning he will no longer be one of Barca's three 'foreign' players and is now planning to try and oust Valdes.

"I want to return to a great club like Barcelona," he stated.

"It's an honour to be able to return and I will do everything possible to be first choice."

However, Barca director of sport Txiki Beguiristain remains uncertain the Turkey international has a future at the club and plans to sit down with coach Frank Rijkaard to discuss his predicament.

"His return to Barcelona is still a decision for the coaches," explained Beguiristain.

"We need to talk to him to explain what the situation is with the team.

"Once I have that information it will be important to know what he thinks."
