Barcelona defender Gabri has confirmed that his agent has held talks with Ajax.
Gabri looks increasingly likely to join Ajax after confirming that his agent was holding talks with the Dutch club.The versatile defender has become increasingly frustrated with playing a bit-part role at Barcelona, and last week declared his intention to move on.
Several top clubs from across the continent have been alerted to his situation, and there were whispers that he was considering a move to The Premiership.
However, Gabri has made Ajax his unequivocal first choice, perhaps swayed by the presence of former Barcelona assistant manager Henk ten Cate in Amsterdam.
"On Saturday my representative will have a meeting with Ajax and right now it is the option that I am considering," he explained.
The 26-year-old has also been linked with a switch to Espanyol, but he has denied having any contact with them.
"There has not been even one meeting with Espanyol," he insisted.
"It was an interesting idea because they are a club who are in development, but we never got to meet."
