Racing Santander are trying to sign Sevilla's Pablo Alfaro during January's transfer window.
The defender has still to decide on his future and could be tempted by a switch to Santander.
Sevilla's new coach Juande Ramos has not selected Alfaro regularly so the option of a move is something he will be strongly considering.
Although Sevilla are keen to retain their former captain, a solution should be reached within the next fortnight or so.
"I believe that I still could play many minutes of football," explained Alfaro.
