The rumours of a move for Ronaldo have obviously attracted interest from the Real players, but Zidane insists that he has not got any inside knowledge.
"I don't know anything about Ronaldo," insisted Zidane. "Of course if he comes it would be perfect.
"Above all I ask who is coming into defence, where people are leaving but not being replaced.
"When I hear or read rumours of Claude Makelele going to Internazionale as part of the Ronaldo deal, I refuse to believe it.
"In fact I can't believe it. The team and the club need him as a player."
Zidane does not intend to leave Real to play anywhere else before he retires.
"I have a contract until 2006, when I will be 34, and then it will be time to stop playing."
