Real seeks Cassano apology

Predrag Mijatovic wants Antonio Cassano to apologise to Real coach Fabio Capello.

Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic has called for Italian striker Antonio Cassano to apologise to coach Fabio Capello.

Cassano insulted Capello after being left out of the side's recent clash with Gimnastic de Tarragona, leading to the striker being fined and barred from first-team training.

Mijatovic believes the whole affair is unfortunate and wants Cassano to end his own excile by admitting he was in the wrong.

"What has happened with Cassano is an unfortunate situation for us and for the player," stated Mijatovic.

"I would like it if he would apologise to the club in the next few days. It is up to him."

Meanwhile, Cassano has hinted he would like a return to former Serie A club Roma.

The Italian hit-man has only been with Real since January 2005 following a move from Stadio Olimpico.

"Rome is the city in which I choose to live and Roma is the team to which I'm most drawn to," he told Teleroma 56.

"I would come back. I have been wrong, a lot, but I'm ready to shake everyone's hand and restart.

"Coming back, I don't know if I'd leave Roma. Unfortunately I've been managed by pride, my damned pride.

"Supporters jeers hurt me and I thought in that moment all the world was against me. Instead supporters were whistling me because I didn't sign a deal.

"Now I would immediately sign the same offer. My dream, now, is coming back to Roma."

Despite Cassano revealing his interest in re-joining Roma, his agent Giuseppe Bozzo has rubbished talk he is engineering a Serie A return for his client.

"With reference to speculation I've offered Cassano to a few clubs. I want to state these rumours have no foundation," said Bozzo.
