La Liga Round-Up

Valencia reclaimed top spot over Real Madrid with an emphatic 6-1 away win over Malaga at Estadio La Rosaleda.

Mista got the ball rolling with just four minutes on the clock before Ricard Oliveira got the first of his troika on 14.

Carlos Marchena made it three two minutes after the interval, before Oliveira claimed his hat trick with goals on 58 and 65.

Captain David Albelda (pictured) made it an embarrassing six on 72 minutes, before Valencia loan star Salva salvaged some, if very little, pride for the homeside with a goal 15 minutes from time.

Atletico Madrid left it late to salvage a draw against nearest rivals Osasuna at Vicente Calderon.

Valdo put the visitors in front on 24 minutes and Osasuna fought tooth and nail to keep the scoreline in their favour and were aided when the hosts were reduced to ten men after Carlos Aguilera was sent packing for a second bookable offence with 15 minutes remaining.

However, with full time looming, Atletico were awarded a penalty which Demis Nikolaidis dully dispatched to earn a point for his side, much to the delight of the home fans.

The result keeps Atletico fourth, while Osasuna follow closely in fifth.

Real Betis remain in the top half of the table after seeing off Celta Vigo 1-0 at Estadio Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.

Daniel Alejandro Lembo scored the all-important goal ten minutes before the break which proved to be the winner.
