Juan the man for Juve?

Juventus are pondering a move for Brazil international defender Juan, while Valencia could continue their Italian recruitment drive after targeting Bianconeri hit-man Marco Di Vaio.

Juan, who is on Copa America duty in Peru and scored in the recent 4-1 win over Costa Rica, currently plies his trade for Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

The powerful yet cultured defender is rated in the ‚é¼7 million (£4.5 million) bracket and is also reported to have caught the eye of Internazionale.

Reports in Italy have suggested that Juve have contacted the player's agent Gilmar Rinaldi to sound him out over a possible move after Fabio Capello's insistence on strengthening his defensive options.

Other players also being considered by the Turin-based outfit include Inter's Fabio Cannavaro and Parma's Daniele Bonera.

However, Juve's need to add defensive recruits could see them forced to sell in other areas if they are to raise necessary funds.

The club still have not given up hope of capturing Emerson from Roma, but are struggling to find the ‚é¼18 million fee that Roma have set.

It had been thought that striker Di Vaio would move to Inter as part of a deal to take Cannavaro in the opposite direction, but Italian media reports claim that Valencia have submitted a ‚é¼10 million offer for the Italian international.

The reigning Spanish champions have already swooped for Lazio duo Stefano Fiore and Bernardo Corradi this summer and with boss Claudio Ranieri close to completing a deal for Parma youngster Emiliano Moretti the Primera club will have a distinctly Italian feel next term.

Inter still remain favourites for Di Vaio's signature, but with Brazilian Ricardo Oliveira set to leave Valencia for Real Betis, the Mestalla outfit could need another forward.
