Racing threaten Che action

Racing Santander could take Valencia to court over the transfer of Mario Regueiro.

Racing Santander have threatened to take Valencia to court over the transfer of Mario Regueiro.

The Uruguayan midfielder joined the Che as a free agent having come to the end of his contract at Racing last month.

However, the Cantabrians are demanding a fee in the region of ‚é¼1.5 million due to a regulation agreed upon last summer by all Spanish clubs - except Barcelona and Malaga.

The ruling states that clubs signing players who have come to the end of their contract must offer compensation if the player was offered an extension to stay at his previous club.

Valencia have so far refused to adhere to the agreement and could now face legal action if a compromise figure is not thrashed out.
