Ariel Ibagaza is to return to former club Mallorca after three years with Atletico Madrid.The Argentine schemer did not feature in the plans of new Atletico boss Javier Aguirre and has now completed a return to The Islanders.
He enjoyed a fine first spell with Mallorca and was an integral part of the side that reached the 1999 European Cup Winners Cup final with Lazio.
A big-money move to Atletico followed in the summer of 2003 but he was never able to truly translate his form for Mallorca at the Vicente Calderon.
He managed a total of 85 appearances during his three-season stay, but chipped in with just four goals.
The 29-year-old is looking to rediscover his best form at the ONO Estadi and expressed his joy at the move back to the Balearic outfit.
"I am beginning a new chapter in my career," he stated. "The project at Mallorca interested me from the start and I am very happy to be back.
"I always said that I wanted to return."
