Musampa makes Turkish switch

Kiki Musampa has joined Turkish outfit Trabzonspor on a three-year deal.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Kiki Musampa has joined Turkish outfit Trabzonspor on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old was out of the picture at the Spanish club after returning from an 18-month loan spell at Manchester City.

Musampa has decided to move on to pastures new in a bid to regain regular first-team football.

The former Ajax and Malaga man will now be hoping to play a part in Trabzonspor's Uefa Cup run this season.

Meanwhile, new Atletico Madrid midfielder Maniche has described his switch to the Spanish club as a dream come true.

The Portugal international turned down a number of offers to sign a three-year deal in Spain.

"I have completed a dream," he said. "I received many offers from a lot of different clubs, but my dream was to join Atletico.

"I kept on holding out in order to complete this move and now everything has happened I am delighted.

"There were quite a few anxious days, it became really intense, but now it is all over. I am really pleased to have joined this great family."

The ‚é¼9 million (£6 million) outlay on Maniche has seen Atletico's summer spending rise above ‚é¼50 million (£33.5 million), but the 28-year-old believes that it will be money well spent.

"By working hard I will help this club achieve things," he added. "I really believe we can win things and believe that I can help put Atletico back where they belong and where they always were and that is at the top.

"If we all pull together here then I believe the team can have a really good season."
