Recreativo de Huelva have officially presented Santiago Cazorla, the most expensive signing in the club's history.The Spanish Under-21 midfielder joined the newly-promoted outfit from Villarreal where he had come through the youth ranks and has penned a four-year deal.
Despite his obvious potential, he found opportunities hard to come by at the Madrigal and has now opted for a fresh challenge.
However, Villarreal have retained a buy-back clause allowing them to repurchase him for a set price should he impress at Recre.
Cazorla, 21, expressed delight at his new challenge and insisted he was determined to justify his price-tag of ‚é¼1.2 million (£850,000).
"It's a responsibility (the price-tag), but also something that will stimulate me because I am determined to show the club have not made a mistake," he commented.
"The young players at Villarreal have nearly all had to leave because we could not continue to sit in the stands, and I think Recre is a good opportunity.
"I am very happy to come here and want to thank the club for the confidence they have shown in me."
Cazorla will join former Villarreal team-mates Cesar Arzo and Javier Lopez Callejo at Recre with the defender and goalkeeper having signed on earlier in the summer.
Recre have also snapped up defender Edu Moya and midfielder Jesus Vasquez from Tenerife as they bolster their squad ahead of their return to the Spanish top-flight.
