Coloccini rues move failure

Fabricio Coloccini admits it was 'bittersweet' not to secure a move from Deportivo.

Fabricio Coloccini admits it was 'bittersweet' not to secure a move from Deportivo La Coruna back to his native Argentina.

The defender has been frustrated at the Riazor this season after falling out of favour under Depor coach Joaquin Caparros.

He was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window and could have gone back to Argentina before Friday's cut-off.

Both River Plate and San Lorenzo had shown an interest, but were unable to come to an agreement with Depor.

Coloccini will now focus on reclaiming his place in Caparros' side after admitting he simply wants to play first-team football.

"This is bittersweet for me, but another solution was not feasible," Coloccini told reporters.

"I did not want to leave La Coruna, but if the chances to play do not exist, it is normal to search for a solution.

"I will now work to be an option in the competitions."
