Viola warn Inter off Toni

Fiorentina have warned Internazionale they have no plans to sell Luca Toni.

Fiorentina have warned Internazionale they have no plans to sell Luca Toni.

Inter have been strongly linked with a move for the Italian international as they look to rebuild their side for next season.

Toni enjoyed a superb season with Fiorentina last term and finished as top scorer in Serie A.

Fiorentina are determined to keep hold of their talisman and they met with Inter officials to inform them that Toni is not for sale at any price.

"Our attacker in untransferable and our meeting with them was an opportunity for us to inform Inter of that fact," said Fiorentina director general Pantaleo Corvino.

"Our future starts with Luca Toni and his goals."

Reports in Italy suggest Inter may turn their attentions to Villarreal's Diego Forlan if they fail to land Toni.

Inter are big admirers of the former Manchester United man and are believed to have made tentative enquiries to Villarreal.

Forlan's future at Villarreal looks uncertain with the likes of Barcelona and Valencia also tracking the Uruguayan.

Villarreal could be interested in doing a deal with Inter for Forlan if the Italians offer Marco Materazzi in part-exchange.
