Betis strike Angel deal

Real Betis have finally agreed a deal to sign Malaga midfielder Miguel Angel.

Real Betis have finally agreed a deal to sign Malaga midfielder Miguel Angel.

Los Verdiblancos have been pursuing the 27-year-old all summer but have been frustrated by Malaga's ever-increasing demands.

However, they have now settled on an initial ‚é¼2 million fee and expect the player to pen a five-year deal.

The Catalan star, who came through the youth ranks at Barcelona, has been hugely impressive for Malaga over the past two seasons and his form was understood to have caught the eye of Aston Villa.

However, Betis have now stepped in and the defensive midfielder is relishing the prospect of turning out in the UEFA Champions League with his new employers.

"My dream is to play in the Champions League and with Betis I now have that chance," he stated.

Angel, full name Miguel Angel Lozano Ayala, was with Malaga on their pre-season tour of England, but will fly back to Seville on Sunday for a medical.

Providing he passes that, as expected, he will sign his contract and be officially unveiled on Monday.
