Celta hint at Mido offer

CELTA VIGO believe they will be offered the chance to secure the permanent transfer of Egyptian ace Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam, but are waiting to hear what Ajax plan to do with the forward.

The striker has had a massive impact since his loan move to Celta, and his performance have not gone unnoticed with a host of clubs sitting up and taking note.

The Spaniards are in the dark as to whether or not Ajax plan to bring Mido back to Amsterdam, but have hinted that they will attempt to keep him in Vigo if they decide to sell.

Celta`s technical secretary Felix Carnero said: "We think Ajax will give a purchase option to us, but we will not know exactly the situation until Beenhakker (Ajax technical director Leo) comes to speak with the player and us.

"We thought that might happen last week, but it seems as if it is going to happen after our game with Deportivo (May 25).

"We do not know for sure if they plan to retain him or sell him. I do not discard the possibility of extending his loan."

There are many senior figures at the Amsterdam ArenA, Beenhakker included, who would welcome Mido back into the fold with open arms.

However, the youngster`s frosty relationship with coach Ronald Koeman could curtail the possibility of this happening.

Mido took another swipe at Koeman during the week, and the likelihood of a reconciliation is remote at this stage.

If Ajax decide to sell, Celta may not be given an option as a bidding war would almost certainly result in the Amsterdam giants securing a higher price for the highly-rated North African.
