Alvaro Recoba has voiced his frustration at not always being a regular in the Internazionale team.The Uruguay international has spent almost nine years with Inter, but his recent seasons have been blighted by injury.
With the likes of Adriano, Obafemi Martins and Julio Cruz all battling for a spot, Recoba knows he is not guaranteed a place in Roberto Mancini's side.
But while he admits he does not like being unable to play every week, he insists it is not a sign that he is unhappy at Giuseppe Meazza.
"When I don't play I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, and I'm not able to feel the win," Recoba told Inter Channel.
"Should the team win or the forwards score, I'm happy, but at the same time, I'm also a little sorry because I have the will to play to give my help.
"In myself, I'm not happy because I always want to play to give something, but everybody has to live this way in football.
"It isn't a negative sentiment. On the contrary, it's a will to give, to put yourself in contention and at the coach's disposal."
Recoba acknowledges the problems that injuries have created, but he believes he is now finally close to being in peak condition.
He added: "I've had many problems when I was stopped by the ankle injury. I was missing all the little daily things at Inter - the coffee, the dressing room, running and training, the match.
"It has been a life lesson. When you miss all of this, you evaluate everything more.
"Now I feel good, also because in the period I was out, I did a lot in the gym and I think I feel better physically and on the mental level, too."
