Inter after new striker

Internazionale are chasing a new striker after being left short in attack.

Internazionale are on the look-out for a new striker.

The Neroazzurri have been left short of forwards following the news that Uruguayan Alvaro Recoba will be out for three weeks after picking up a muscular injury at the weekend.

With Obafemi Martins set to join up with the Nigerian squad for the African Cup of Nations in Eygpt, Roberto Mancini has been left with only Adriano and Julio Cruz in attack.

It had been rumoured that Mancini was keen to sign Chievo's Victor Obinna, but that move may be scuppered as Obinna looks set to receive a late call-up to join his fellow countryman Martins in Eygpt.

Inter are keeping track Udinese's David Di Michele and Cagliari's Mauro Esposito in the eventuality of Obinna's call up

Meanwhile, president Massimo Moratti has underlined the reasons why they did not enter the race to sign Real Madrid new boy Antonio Cassano.

"I'm not disappointed we didn't sign Cassano," he claimed. "At the time, we had a well-balanced team and didn't need a new striker."

Inter currently sit third in Serie A, 10 points behind leaders Juventus.
