Serie A round-up

Scudetto favourites Internazionale were held to a draw in their second game.

Scudetto favourites Internazionale were held to a draw in their second Serie A game of the season, whilst Reggina chipped away at their 15 point deduction as two games took place in Italy on Saturday.

Following the punishments handed out to their rivals, Roberto Mancini's Nerazzurri are viewed as the team to beat in Italy, but they required a late own goal to snatch a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria.

Spirits were dampened inside Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on 47 minutes when Samp took a surprise lead through a Francesco Flachi penalty.

The wealth of quality at Mancini's disposal was highlighted by the presence of world stars such as Luis Figo, Adriano and Walter Samuel on the substitutes' bench, but Inter had to rely on their opponents for a point.

On 79 minutes the luckless Massimo Bonanni put through his own net as Samp were unable to hold onto their lead against the reigning champions.

Reggina, dealt a 15 point deduction before the start of the season due to match-fixing, now register a tally of -12 after securing a 2-1 win over Cagliari.

They took the lead after 51 minutes through Alessandro Lucarelli, and a late, late goal from Rolando Bianchi, following on from his hat-trick on the opening day of the season, was required after David Suazo had equalised from the penalty spot just after the hour.
