Roma without Totti

By Nadia Carminati
Roma coach Fabio Capello will not risk captain Francesco Totti for Thursday's Uefa Cup match against Hajduk Split.

The Roman talisman is suffering with a back problem which has forced him out of several training sessions with the team.

The Stadio Olimpico favourite is not the only player ruled out of the clash.

Frenchman Olivier Dacourt, striker Marco Delvecchio and Cristiano Lupatelli are also absent.

The Giallorossi skipper commented on the club's seemingly endless financial troubles and insisted that he did not want to be drawn into the club's economic problems and that president Franco Sensi may sell the club.

"I'm a player. I'm not interested in economic situations," said Totti.

"I don't think about the club's selling position. If president Franco Sensi has to make that decision in the future, then I will offer him my congratulations and remember a man who made us a great team."

Speaking on the forthcoming Golden Ball award, Totti opined: "I'll tell a lie if I say I'm not interested.

"It's the most prestigious award, but it's an important thing for a player."

Antonio Cassano is expected to line up alongside Vincenzo Montella for the clash against Hajduk despite his latest run-in with Capello which saw him storm off in training.
