Juventus maintained their 100 percent start to the Serie A season, as Milan lost at Sampdoria.

The reigning champions made it three wins from three matches as they edged to a 2-1 success over promoted Ascoli.

Alessandro Del Piero was the hero for Juve with two goals, including a penalty in the first half, as his brace sandwiched a strike from Alfredo Cariello.

Milan were sunk 2-1 at Sampdoria, who came from behind to snare the points after Alberto Gilardino put the visitors ahead on 18 minutes.

Emiliano Bonazzoli equalised on 36 minutes and the comeback was completed on 58 minutes courtesy of Max Tonetto's effort.

In the evening kick-off Roma were held to a goalless draw at Livorno.

Udinese were brought back down to earth after their UEFA Champions League heroics as they dropped their first points of the campaign in a 4-2 defeat at Fiorentina.

Sulley Muntari put Udinese in front on 28 minutes but the Viola were ahead by the break through goals from Stefano Fiore and Luca Toni.

Marco Donadel extended the lead on 79 minutes, and Toni notched again four minutes from time.

Vincenzo Iaquinta, who scored a hat-trick against Panathinaikos in midweek, netted a last minute penalty as Udinese slumped on their travels.

Reggina have now lost all three matches of the campaign after they were resoundingly beaten 3-1 at home to ten-man Chievo Verona.

Francesco Cozza opened the scoring on 10 minutes for the hosts but Daniele Franceschini levelled on 18 minutes.

Franceschini netted again on 63 minutes and the win was sealed via Davide Mandelli's goal on 77 minutes. Lorenzo D'Anna was sent off for Chievo.

Promoted Treviso are another team to have lost all three games as they were beaten 3-1 at Lazio.

Massimo Oddo then scored an 86th minute penalty, after Treviso keeper Samir Handanovic was sent off.

Stephen Makinwa poached a 58th minute winner for Palermo as they extended their unbeaten start with a 2-1 success at Siena.

Christian Terlizzi's 19th minute goal for Palermo had been cancelled out within 60 seconds by Siena's Tomas Locatelli.
