Serie A round-up

Juventus extended their lead at the top of Serie A to five points after a 4-1 win over Roma.

Juventus extended their lead at the top of Serie A to five points after a domineering 4-1 win over Roma in the Eternal City.

Roma had been on an excellent run, winning four out of their last five games and Luciano Spalletti's men fancied their chances of upsetting Juve.

However, the Old Lady had other ideas and the game was put out of Roma's reach in 16 spectacular second half minutes which saw Juve score four times.

Pavel Nedved opened the scoring just a minute into the second period before Zlatan Ibrahimovic added the second on 56 minutes.

Moments later David Trezeguet got his name on the scoresheet and it took the Frenchman just minutes to add his second and Juve's fourth.

Juve suffered a setback not long after as Lilian Thuram was dismissed for a professional foul and Francesco Totti slotted home the resulting penalty - but it proved mere consolation for the Romans.

Udinese moved into the top half of the table with a hard fought 1-0 win over lowly Messina.

The Bianconeri have struggled to get going this term and have thus far finished to match last season's form which saw them claim a UEFA Champions League spot.

Udinese, though, managed to bag their first win in other a month thanks to a late winner at the Stadio Friuli.

The all important goal came just three minutes from time when Brazilian starlet Felipe bagged his first goal in Italian football.
