Fiore thanks for Toni

Andrea Della Valle has once again hailed Luca Toni's decision to remain in Florence.

Fiorentina supremo Andrea Della Valle has once again hailed Luca Toni's decision to remain in Florence.

The Italian international striker was strongly linked with a move away from the club in the summer after Fiorentina were caught up in the Serie A scandal that saw themselves, Lazio, Milan and Juventus all hit with major penalties.

Viola were forced to start the Serie A season on minus 19 points, but Toni decided to remain at The Artemio Franchi.

"Luca believed in our plan, over this dramatic summer," said Della Valle.

"Others did not do the same and look where they are now."

Della Valle is still hopeful Fiorentina will still see a reduction in their penalty.

"The whole of Florence is convinced of our innocence, now we want everywhere else to be convinced too.

"We can only ask for justice and hope they will hear us."

A final decision on the penalties imposed on Fiorentina, Juventus, Milan and Lazio is expected in a matter of weeks.
